You already started to earn via writing, so be of good cheer. Just like the sub title said it was the best thing happened to you, surely it was. You did not lose totally, you got your feet firmed onto something. Keep your hope for the best, and do whatever you could with what you have. There would be more to life than remaining on the same spot too long. :) You would meet great people along the way. You would see great days ahead.
