There is a simpler way to go about being in the university. For a Singaporean, at 16 upon their Cambridge O Levels, they could cross the border and study in Malaysia or Indonesia or elsewhere cheaper. They will still be able to grad with a University cert anyway.
But, the locals are spending 3 years in full time diploma before a university right after 16. It is a waste of time.
I like the education to be more skilled based than bookish. Perhaps only those who need to be lawyers and doctors should do the traditional way. But for others like business, skill based and companies attachments are better. Afterall that count as experience for the younger generations.
