Not just your race traditional mindset. The Malays also had this mindset and it became like a religious statement. Many Muslim men do not want their wives to be very educated. The Ustadh always preached " woman's place is in the kitchen" thus studying a degree is pointless. Although bachelor’s degree is a norm today, those who took a gap year from furthering their studies due to lack of money, would be thrown this statement. Like my mom. And the scholars in Yemen. They said woman only needed to learn basic and do skills like cooking housekeeping cleaning. Learning till masters degree isn't needed. Let the men do. But you know what... A lot of those Yemenis women till today are busy chasing their degrees too! I do not see any completeness in the religion when such thing happens in my eyes.
