Is 2-Months Of Writing On Simily Enough For A Good Result?
I will not write about how it works because you can search for it on Medium or directly via Simily. I hit the opportunity when Simily uses PayPal as I can’t use Stripe payment services.
Simily will be a good platform that allows writers to monetize a small amount of money than wait for books to be published for sales. It is leveraging on views right now, before embarking on reads later on.
The monetization rate is very low. It makes sense as the users who subscribe monthly or yearly have yet to reach an optimal benchmark for a higher payout. If you are urgent about making more money and want it fast, honestly, Simily will not be a good platform for you at its infant stage.
I tested 2-months of writing fervently on Simily. It isn’t mainly for the idea of writing fiction. I wanted to bring back my writing creativity when I feel like giving up writing. I benchmarked 50,000 words in a month using the strategy of NaNoWriMo alike. But, the gist and purpose of doing it will be to allow ideas or imagination to flow freely into a storyline.
My findings after 2-months?
- I hit the momentum of showing up daily with more than 1k words without realizing it, but there were articles published with a date as of yesterday. [time zone differences].
- It kept me with daily writing at the beginning of the day for a chapter. I spared an hour for editing and re-reading. The total of 2-hours created the momentum for me to show up daily. And in those fixed hours, my mind started working more and more into finding hope existed. [movements bring blessings]
- It wasn’t the length of words, but the whole idea of the story per article flowed without a room for revising, questioning and doubting it. [no room for writers’ block or low self-esteem].
- I edited and read through only after the chapter was complete for the day, which sometimes brought me to think about where was all of it leading. [storyline sidetracking] Your mind had been your only limit? Rather true.
- Because I set the limit to 2-months only, I stopped at Chapter 26 without the story completed. I aimed to have only 30 chapters only, but it seemed it might be more than 30. [I seemed to speak about the protagonist’s life more than the people she met on the train]
- I could not find any download function to back up my stories. [a little extra homework to do]
- I wished I could shuffle the stories that belonged together. Here is what it looked like when I did not write continuously, a story till it completed before beginning a different one. [Messy or Adaptability?]
2-months had been a short period to say that something bears much fruit. It would be unfair to judge a work by thinking of it as a fast-track race. There has been no quick mastery of learning skills and earning big bucks overnight.
If you were to ask me about the earnings, I still had not reached the minimum threshold of 10 US Dollars. I did not announce my link via social media channels but depended only on the circulation within Simily platform writers.
I am still undecided about continuing on Simily or leaving it hanging till I make time for it again. With a 1-year subscription to test the platform for that period, if I do not stop writing on Simily, my next review will be around the end of December 2022.
Will it be worth my time and energy? The stories I wrote came this far…
If you are expecting monetization as good as Medium right now, you will be disappointed. At the moment, Simily 2-cents per view does not give you much return on earnings. I feel a lot of energy is required to update the writing platform consistently.
You may gain followers. You may not have frequent readers there. Some readers make time for it diligently, so you got to find them and form the readers’ ground. That is also possible if they are interested in your niche.
I hope these help.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed what you read.
I recommend you to subscribe to the membership that allows you to read more articles from professional writers. Some of them are PhDs from various fields and they wrote wonderful articles.
It cost only $5 monthly and I do not earn any small amount from your subscriptions. Stripe payment services did not work out for me. If you would like to tip me for a cup of coffee, I am here. Thank you.
