I laughed when I read this.
Well, I played a role of a teacher aide when I was in a pre-nursery school temporarily during the Covid19 early days. Imagine a parent only having to be patient with their own child, the teachers had to be patient with many children. Hahah...
We trained them to be independent, allowing them to wear their pants by themselves as they reached certain stages because they were curious. It helps their motor skills.
But, like you, my patience was tested to the core too. Sometimes, we made it exciting. Rewards by surprise. Like, I gave a muffin to a child (with the parent's permission) and explained to him in the class that he improves his timing of getting ready. It surprised him, and the next day, he was attentive to the time he took to get things done.
But, we also do not want to rely on rewards all the time for doing something good, do we? It makes them less sincere when doing something.
I don't know.
