I experienced quite similar as your experience. It was about Hell all the time. The fear that was casted upon me when I was a child where my parents bragged about Hell for so many things in life that I felt suffocated and I disliked Islam. I mean, why would God be so pathetic to keep punishing people and why was He so angry, when I thought God is a loving God? I had a lot of these questions in my head and one day I decided to not listen to all these preachers who define doctrines in different ways. I went to the intensive religious school instead. I found scholars who are deep into these studies and none of them over zealously brag about Hell. They preached about LOVE, Hope, peace, faith and all the good news.
