I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but I felt the mixed of emotions. Being a woman, when such questions being asked from children to men, it definitely makes me smile and giggled. It would be like "there you go...i wanna see how you manage that question". I would do the same like your wife, by smiling and offer no support first. But that lovely sequence when a child cried wanting to be loved...aww....I got welled up in tears too. Amazing.
