Your Services To Others Spell Your Way Of Life

After being missing in writing almost a month…without realizing time passed by very quickly indeed…

Disclaimer: Names* changed to protect the identity of my loved ones. Anything else had been by pure coincidence.

Yesterday, my Restaurant Manager Diyogen* said something which made my heart sang. I sang praises to God for His love through the people He chose.

Diyogen called one of the chefs at a distance, but the chef was already at my workstation area.

“Who else do not eat pork here? Anyone else?” asked the chef.

The chef walked towards the back area where Diyogen* stood waiting. I happened to see him trying to call the chef a corner. I noticed his presence.

“Chef, Norlisse does not eat pork. She could not eat pork…” said Diyogen tactfully and mindfully.

The kitchen prepared for me something else.

In high school, I met friends who were religiously inclined. These sisters from different faith always reminded one another, “Show your parents the ways of Jesus so that they are able to accept you being with Jesus…”

That meant Etiquettes…

Everything had been all about moral values we lived by and our social etiquettes. Because etiquette is LOVE.

We could not follow the ways of the gracious people in the past without having love in our actions. Either love resided in our hearts or pretense.

It could take a long time to cultivate regular acts of love.

  • Because we are human beings created with good and bad.
  • At the same time, human-beings were born with different views and opinions.
  • Last, human-beings were born to have different preferences and biase taste.

In my early 30s, I met acquaintances or sisters in Islam. A few of them said, “show them the way of Muhammed peace be upon him, that the people around will be at peace accepting you on this Path…”

They did not tell me to pray more, fast more, or do rituals more that people could see. ;) They constantly tried to render service of kindness to others out of Mercy.

In the way of life for the scouts and girl guides, we had been taught values in life. Our British father Robert Baden Powell reminded us to leave behind people in a better state than when we first found them.

So…Be easy with acts of love. AND guard your heart because being ready for disappointment, you would unlikely feel hurt easily.

Dear Diyogen, thank you for your gracious thoughts and deeds. Love you.

Chef, thank you for the meal.

Good Night.

N.A.
