We live in a World where we reciprocate actions. Otherwise, most of us will not help each other. When you read my article, I am also sure you hope I will read yours. That is an example.

But when you are hoping to feel lesser disappointment this year, there are several points you need to bear in mind.

  • When you do a charity or donation, do not expect any returns because it is charity anyway
  • When you help a person because of family or sibling clause, do not expect them to return you a favor
  • When strangers help you in time of need, it could be 1 of your good deeds Godsend as a form of reaping what you sow towards others in the past
  • Do not expect a return of favor from the same person you do good to because it does not work that way most of the time
  • Every good deed has a return favor, but do not set the expectations from our own standard
  • Lower your expectations from other people and you will lower your disappointment in the future

When we can follow through these, we will not be facing many disappointments this year. Remember that we fail one another. Yes, people often fail one another.

Human beings fail one another often.

“Never think that there are no blessings in return for the good deeds we had done for other people. There will surely be returns of blessings for the favors we do for others. But, we do not decide for ourselves what those blessings should be. Let God decide.” — Hubabah Nur Al Atthas

If you had been feeling disappointed over non-reciprocating behavior of others, do reflect on these. You may not reap what you sow there and then. Perhaps your reward is somewhere else.

When we lean on our own understanding often, we get disappointed. So, let’s try to keep our heart open to the possibilities. Take it in our stride.

As a Muslim, I believe God places emotions and feelings within us for a purpose.

Wa Ila Rabbika Ruj’aa — Noble Qur’an

It means: And to Your Lord you returned (for advice, guidance and so on…)

I do not have a perfect fit answer for life questions, but I thank you for reading this piece. 💌
