I thought Blue Beetles was a copycat to Spiderman. I viewed Spiderman movies as an escapade from the real world into the world of imagination only.
And a few weeks ago, I watched the show. I was wrong about Blue Beetles.
While Spiderman movies were filled with imagination of a man casting the web from his fingers, Blue Beetles was more about AI robotics and technologies.
Here, I found 3 wonderful life lessons to share with you.
1 — Never underestimate our revolutionary past.
We have turned both cheeks. Now it is time to fight — Nana
Nana or Abuela’s past younger days were spent in a revolutionary ordeal.
When Nana appeared at the perfect timing to save Jaime, the theatre attendees went “whoa!”
Nobody thought she was skilled in using the gun.
Imagine your grandma was once part of your country’s past civil war. She would be known a veteran or among the heroines.
One big bang of an encouragement to me was Nana’s advice to her family when Jaime had been captured.
We have turned both cheeks. Now it is time to fight.- Nana
For as many times we allowed others to step all over us, manipulated or used us, sometimes we needed to be hard on them.
For as many times we brushed away or gave in to the sarcasm or mockery of others, there would be a time to fight.
Lessons:
Never underestimate our revolutionary past. We wouldn’t be sure what our past experiences would be of a good use.
It would come at the time when we had been pushed to the corner. It would show that people hadn’t known us any better.
2 — Everyone is finding their purpose.
Every stops are short stations and not yet destination — Mr Reyes
Jaime Reyes’ dad advice was to look at our purpose as for today.
Remember that Jaime just returned home upon graduation. He thought he had a university degree thus it should be a good advantage for work.
When he thought he found his purpose through a paper certificate, coming back to a family which suffered in his absence triggered his consciousness.
He suddenly questioned his purposes again.
I thought of what his dad said…
Everyone is finding their purpose. Every stops are just stations and not yet destination — Mr Reyes
And his dad’s purpose at that hour was to advice Jaime when he did not know what to do.
Lessons:
When we lost our way to know our purpose , what would be the least we could do?
Look at today. What is our purpose at this hour?
Every achievements or completion we made were only short stations. Your university degree wasn’t the final. What once was your achievement was only history.
The every stops we achieved or completed a goal came with a new question. Life turned at every age we would one day realize that we continued to search for Hope, Peace, Purpose, God or a religion at 20, 30, 40, 50 or even 60 years old.
You thought you found your life purposes, only to keep seeking and searching for it till your hair turned grey.
3 — Love of family can either make you weak or strong.
“You’re wrong! The love of my family made me stronger.”-Jaime Reyes
When Jaime Reyes was trying to protect his family with the help of Khaji-Da (beetle), the enemies took the chance on his family.
I vividly remember the enemy said, “Your love for your family made you weak.”
Throughout the movie, this reminder was repeated several times.
At this point, I felt the enemies were speaking to me.
I thought if I had been selfish for myself 1st like my siblings, I wouldn’t be less prioritized. What use was it to love my family when they mistreated me with vulgarities and betrayal?
Not until the last part when Jaime thought his uncle was also dead like his papa, he fought with strength.
I vividly recalled Jaime said in a rage, “You’re wrong! The love of my family made me stronger.”
Lessons:
Love could make a person weaker or stronger depending on individual’s mindset and priorities.
A dysfunctional or intoxicated family setting didn’t mean weakness. A lot of people from broken family and childhood lived better off as they aged.
I’m not referring to University scrolls, arrogance about being an undergrad, or the money others might earn as managers or CEOs.
I’m projecting the number of hurt, pain, abuse, trauma, insomnia and mental breakdown where people in these situation arised to live adequately with gratitude. These people whom you looked forward at work for their strong positive energy vibration had always been thrown in different level of hell you didn’t know or understood.
So, if you had been through numerous setbacks and yet you braved the storms each day, you’re my hero.
XoXo,
