3 Different Ways To Manage Problems
coping mechanism by managing problems before resolving it will help us live better
None of us like any problems. Problems are from the consequences of our choices in life or our connections with other people. It usually ties everyone down together like your DNA.
I once read in a blog post, “The only people who have no problems are the dead.”
Problems affect our surroundings very often. A department’s problems affect another department. Let us take a look at the marketing department as an example. Poor marketing strategy has an impact on Sales and Customer Service.
Instead of being proactive or reactive towards problems, the main idea is knowing how to manage them. Let me go through 3-simple ones, which we do not think we need to know already. Sometimes, small matters like these contribute to an impactful outcome.
1 — Fight or flight after you exchange words as an explanation because the more you explain, the more the recipient twisted the words due to different perspectives.
In 2013, a Sufi guide shared his challenge. He was with his daughter. The haters accused him of being in a scandal. In that situation, he stayed firm. He welcomed any media that asked.
He advised us when someone slandered us of something untrue, either we fight or flight. We assess if it is worth our explanation. Sometimes, we just needed to explain once.
We can learn from the parables or analogies. We entered the explanation zone. Explain once. And move on. We don’t owe further or repetitive explanations to anyone after that. We kick the dust off our feet and move on.
2- Some problems are for us to walk through them only. Just like a passing cloud, these shall soon come to a pass.
Some problems we encountered have no exact solutions. Pandemic is not something within our hands to solve. Vaccinations are the only means of preventing getting infected.
It is just the same as family problems. I once overheard how someone in my family gossiped about my studies getting me nowhere to earn a decent 4k dollars or being a manager. Religion, be it Christianity or Islam, is seen as useless. Money is more worthy.
I knew that I could’ve confronted the situation with arguments or debates. However, growing up in an intoxicated environment taught me one thing.
When people are already adamant and stuck in their mindset, they won’t change. I took half of my books from the bookshelf and threw them into the dustbin. That shocked the family members.
I took action without a word mentioned.
3 — Find solutions as some problems got solved within a matter of a short time.
The gas stove in the house was getting explosive sound. The gas pipe had been 30 years. I smelled gas leaked. In an instant, I knew it was time to get it replaced. Otherwise, someone else may have to bear the cost of the whole unit if it catches fire.
Having contacts made it simpler. I had the repairman over, checked on it. We had it resolved by having the stove changed to a new one. We bought a new gas pipe too. The entire process took time.
Life requires us to be agile and resilient in being problem solvers. These are just 3-common ways. The root causes may be a result of our choices. Even when we keep life simple, other people’s choices can affect us too.
Overall, taking note of our health is first. If you have come reading this far, I thank you.
