2 Lessons From Monet’s Impression Between Art And Science I Seen…

it is science when I am being offered to be an Assistant Manager by social connections, not from resume papers…I turned down the offer.

Caution: You may not even understand if you do not take a step out of the box…It is deep.

Monet whose art impressions are all over the Flower Dome brings many deep reflections for me. I am in awe by 2-impressive moments…

First…you see life as an art.

And it is true.

I have a friend who says, “…when you want to eat steak, I put aside $500 for you.”

That explains a lot of the chemistry between people.

And it’s like a joke of the day…Me? Worth your $500 only? That is the price?

“I am opening a limit of $2000 for you…” I remember telling him.

That surprises him leading to us laughing together.

That’s art for me. A stage plays between human beings.

Second, you see life as science.

I really can feel coming Home to Claudine, the French restaurant.

A day with some hours to dine, chill, having many stories to tell each other…I am not special. Not a white-collar employee. Not a manager. Not earning even 3K. Not sexy. Not holding prestige rank or role.

Well, the Executive Chef, a French man, comes over saying Hi. He welcomes me home warmly. He is no stranger to me. Whenever we meet, we will exchange hugs. We will not know when we meet again.

We value those moments working under the same roof. We probably fail each other in small or big ways. We also lift each other, sometimes without realizing it. We only know what we miss when either one of us leaves.

That chemistry whenever over a period of time I return to drop by, to see how’s he and his team is doing…To say hi. To visit him because he is dear to me too…

That is science to me. The connection between us, that is science to me.

Monet’s words resonate a lot with what I go through…

I simplify it for you…

Everyone discusses the paintings (life or someone) as if they understand them well…Whereas all they need to do is to find love for them.

I know it is how everyone tells a story about what they see.

To end this writing…

Imagine this. It really happens.

I have rapport with cafe buddies where I haven't worked with them a single time. Not once.

The manager resigns. He gets me to do the interview on the spot in the cafe because the HR is there.

Position?

One offer is Senior Assistant Manager. Another? Restaurant Manager.

I haven’t got my resume with me. So, I treat it as a casual chat and network connection.

The company needs to fill the gap immediately. Soft launch starting this Sunday. I love it when places start from scratch. There is a lot to do meaning a lot to learn.

But they want my papers.

That frustrates not only me who works till midnight as freelance…but it also makes the manager who resigns says aloud…In disbelief…

“What resume do you still need from her? Why do you need her resume? She’s already in front of you. All of us can vouch for her. She should be onboard. Do you need me to approach Claudine restaurant to get a testimony from her GM?! She can do more than what you expect, you’ll be surprised!”

Well, I turned down the offer.

I do managers’ duties in another different restaurant, not Claudine. I cover their responsibilities. However, the big play in the industry is…recruiters rely on the title of previous jobs.

For example,

You are known as a service crew. That’s that. HR only see and judge you as service crew. They need to see the title Senior Supervisor or Assistant Manager in the resume. Even if your job scope covers your manager’s work, they still take it that you are only a service crew. The next higher post you should take is a Captain? Team Lead?

And you go onboard doing Assistant Managers and Restaurant Managers’ job!

Monet is true to say, everyone discusses someone like they know them well, like they understand them. Right? Just by a piece of paper. Or for Monet’s case, his paintings.

When in reality all they need to do is look with love, in the case of recruiting, look into the person’s role and duties.

Well, I am so glad that the Mama Universe already completes me showing that I am already there — ready for a managerial role again.

Thank you, Lord.
